Details

Bontrager's Race X Lite Hardcase offers armor-clad flat protection without sacrificing high-end road feel. Its triple protection reduces pinch flats, sidewall cuts and head-on punctures so you can concentrate on putting in the miles. And the Hardcase's high-speed tread compound provides optimal traction and low-rolling resistance no matter what the weather, so this tire is equally at home racing or spring training.

1) Bead-to-bead, abrasion-resistant, woven Exo Casing is 16% more resistant to flats from sidewall cuts.
2) Kevlar Durabelt provides an additional 58% increase in puncture resistance.
3) Anti-pinch design is twice as resistant to pinch flats as standard tires without this feature; it also protects the rim from damage.

The high thread-per-inch casing let this tire conform to the road/trail for superior cornering and comfort.

    Comments:

When I bought my first road - hybrid bike in 2005, I quickly discovered how the standard equipment Michelin tires were prone to flats. One day while riding to work, my bike had 3 flats. My Trek dealer recommended the Bontrager Hard Case tires. They worked beautifully: No flats, over 2,500 miles per pair, and no noticeable performance penalty compared to standard 700 X 23 tires. A few years later, I bought a Trek Madone. As soon as the original tires wore out, I replaced them with hard case tires. I've logged over 15,000 miles on my 2 bikes over city streets and county highways that often have broken glass scattered over the roadway. These tires have never let me down. I always carry a flat repair kit, yet it's great to know that I really don't need it!
